Hello there! My name is Oke Lawrence and I’m the proud founder and blogger behind Sewing Crafty. I decided to start this blog because sewing and crafting have been long-time passions of mine that bring me so much joy, and I wanted to share my love of creating with the world!
I’ve been sewing since I was 12 years old when my grandmother first taught me how to thread a needle and stitch two pieces of fabric together. I’ll never forget the excitement and pride I felt when I completed my first project—a simple skirt made out of patterned cotton. Over the last 15 years, my sewing skills have grown tremendously and I’ve taken on more and more challenging projects like dresses, coats, home décor items, and even wedding dresses!
Aside from sewing and blogging, I work part-time at our local community center teaching sewing classes to adults and children. I love introducing others to this rewarding hobby. When I’m not busy with my sewing, classes, or blogging, I enjoy hiking outdoors and picnicking with my family. I live in Glendale, California with my wonderful Parents
I started Sewing Crafty to document my sewing journey while also helping other aspiring and experienced sewists bring their creative visions to life. Here you’ll find a mix of step-by-step sewing tutorials, project inspiration, equipment recommendations, and general sewing tips and advice.
